Keldeo delivers a win in the first week of the flat season

5YO powers home over six furlongs for third win at Catterick

Keldeo and Harry Russell deliver a memorable win

With this week being the first with more than just a single turf meeting, we were delighted when Keldeo confirmed the promise of her first run. She started her season with a run on the All-Weather at Southwell a fortnight ago which put her just right for today - winning well in the last race on Catterick's first turf card of their 2026 season.

This was only the fourth time Keldeo has tried the six furlong trip, and racing prominently, she came with a power-packed run in the closing stages to lift the prize in this £8k added handicap race.

The filly was shouldering over ten stones, top weight in this field of eight, but saw off the challenge of the favourite in the closing stages to work out a good value winner. Jockey Harry Russell did really well to steer the filly into a share of the lead from the unhelpful stall eight and Keldeo never looked like giving up the lead when she went to the front well over a furlong out.

You can watch the replay of Keldeo's Catterick race below - look out for the Ownaracehorse blue and yellow colours showing up early from the widest stall! Shares are still available for the rest of her 2026 season. Afterwards, trainer Ollie Pears stated the filly was absolutely fine, and he's looking forward to plenty more wins from this 5YO as the season develops.
