Racehorse Profile

We are really excited to be bringing this WINNING HURDLER into our team of National Hunt horses. Cuillin Ridge is race fit, and we are pleased to be offering a great value share for shareholders who wish to not only benefit from his first runs for trainer Susan Corbett, but also those through next season.

To be clear, buying into this gelding in April or May 2026 will benefit from all his runs this spring and run right through the National Hunt season in 2026/2027. It basically means you will be able to enjoy a full season and a half of jumps racing.

As a race-fit, last time out winner, we think this offers great value, with the share period running right through until April 2027.

We were delighted to secure this 6YO gelding at the Goffs online sale in March, and he has gone into training with immediate effect at Susan Corbett's Otterburn yard. Susan has trained numerous winners, with her focus specifically on the jumps circuits around the north and Scotland.

This son of Schiaparelli is a really exciting young prospect, with a bright future ahead of him in 3m+ races. He has won over hurdles and is big enough to jump a chase fence. Bred and trained previously by Henry Daly, he has been brought along steadily by that trainer before really beginning to show his potential last winter.

This culminated in a win over 3m off a mark of 88. He was reassessed to a mark of 94 following that run. His profile suggests he has the scope to improve, and we are excited to see how he shapes in his first few outings under Susan's care and believe he can have a very productive campaign, not only in his few runs in Spring/Summer, but even more likely, next winter.

Nicknamed 'Nigel' at his previous yard, that stable name has taken hold, and travelled with him to Otterburn. Soon after arriving at Susan's Girsonfield stables, the trainer told us:

I was delighted to pick up Cuillin Ridge from Henry Daly's after we won the auction for him. Henry kindly passed on as much information as he could and I'm looking forward to getting started with him. We always give our new horses a Yard MOT when they arrive, so Nigel was scanned and had all his tendons, teeth, feet, and his airways checked. He passed his MOT with flying colours.

Cuillin Ridge is the second horse to go into training with Susan, and this winning gelding follows unraced Novice Ebchester into the stable. The two horses have very different profiles and their shareholders will be able to follow their progress closely through the months, and possibly, years ahead.

We are able to offer this special share period for Cuillin Ridge because he will race a few times from April-July, have a short summer break, and then be back in action from September through to April 2027. This means shareholders benefit from a very long share period.

Cuillin Ridge has still got his best years ahead of him. As a 6YO, he is only just starting his National Hunt adventure. We are really excited about him and his great value share period will last more than a year of National Hunt season racing. We hope you'll join us in the fun!

Form & Race Plans

Cuillin Ridge arrived at Susan Corbett's yard fully race fit. He was fresh from a win at Huntingdon in March and the intention is to take full advantage of his fitness.

He will race several times in the spring and early summer and hopefully will be competitive in some northern Handicaps in the north of England and Scotland. He appears to handle Good ground and ground with some cut, so we will be looking for opportunities for him from April 2026 onwards.

Following some spring outings he will be taken in for his summer break. This is currently scheduled to be between the months of June and July and possibly some of August if the weather is particularly warm. However, the exact timings may depend on how his spring form pans out.

Following his summer break, he will be brought back into training in early autumn and will then be prepared for a conventional 2026/2027 National Hunt campaign. We would expect him to commence racing from late September/early October and race through until next April.

'Nigel' is currently rated in the 90s, although this may have altered by the time he reaches the winter campaign. We anticipate he will eventually be rated higher than 100 and be contesting some useful and valuable handicap hurdles, and possibly see a chase fence by the end of next winter.

Cuillin Ridge 2026 Guarantee

We expect to get 5-7 runs and sometimes more from all our older horses per share period/season, however, you should expect periods of no racing as a result of recuperation from injury or training setbacks. This share period runs from April 2026 right through until April 2027. This will include the scheduled summer break for the gelding.

During the season the horse may be rested or have time away from the track to recover and it is quite normal for a flat horse to have periods of 3-6 weeks of rest between races.

We provide guarantees with all our racehorses. If this horse has a season-ending injury and has not already RACED TWICE during the share period, we will replace her with an alternative horse for the remainder of the season. Replacement horses may not be of the same quality, are provided with no further guarantees, and no alternative choice can be provided. Prize-money cannot be paid on any replacements, but all other benefits such as yard visits and race day badges are available.

As a shareholder you MUST ACCEPT that we cannot guarantee your horse's performance, a specific volume of runs (beyond our minimum guarantee), or that runs will be evenly spaced throughout the share period. This is the chance you take when owning any racehorse and participating in this ownership experience. If you will be disappointed with only 2-3 runs from your racehorse during the season, then please DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS OR ANY OTHER RACEHORSE, as you could be disappointed.

We believe in being crystal clear with our shareholders - any participation in racehorse ownership is a risk, and we are UNABLE TO PROVIDE REFUNDS because of share periods which finish early due to injury or retirement - as training, vets, and livery fees for the horse still remain whether they are racing or not. Also, part of your lease payment covers the five months of their pre-season training.

This risk is the chance all shareholders take, as we do ourselves when participating in the ownership of a racehorse.
