Racehorse Profile

This is a great opportunity to be involved in a very talented, winning mare who could go on to be virtually anything as a 5YO as she continues to grow and improve as 4YO in 2025.

A winner every season she has raced so far, there is every reason to suspect that Keldeo is going to continue that upward trend in 2026. A winner at both 2YO and 3YO she wintered very well turning four and grew and developed into a really strong and robust filly through 2025. She raced regularly - winning again - and running up a series of great runs in decent company in 2025, including runs at Beverley, Pontefract, Doncaster and York.

Trainer Ollie Pears thinks there may even be more to come from this really good looking grey mare in 2026. Describing her as "hard as nails" he thinks another winter could see her fully matured and she could even surpass what she has already achieved and could yet even head into Class 3 or even Class 2 handicaps.

Ollie told us, "She had a great spring in 2025 and went up the handicap but stayed very competitive. I think she'd race every day if we let her. Looking at the size of her now, I'm amazed she won as a 2YO and I think she will be fully mature in 2026 and I can only think she is going to be every bit as consistent and could yet improve."

She is currently rated in the 70s which means any improvement would see her contesting some very decent, valuable handicaps in Class 3 and possibly Class 2. As a mare if she were able to nick some 'black-type' in a Listed race then she would be a very attractive proposition for the paddocks.

Ollie told us, "She wasn't a cheap horse, but then I always thought she had the looks and pedigree of an even more expensive racehorse. I was delighted with her three-length win as a 2YO, as she isn’t small and that showed she had plenty of ability. She continues to improve, but what's even better is that showed she had plenty of ability. She did really well as a three and four-year-old and as she continued to grow and develop so I’m expecting she’ll be every bit as good as a 5YO.”

Ollie trained Keldeo's half-sister Blitzle whose career was cut short by injury but she showed plenty of ability winning twice from just seven starts and Keldeo has certainly continued the family tradition.

Ollie went on to say "Keldeo’s breeding is all on the sprint side. I thought a lot of Blitzle, and Keldeo has already surpassed her sister. I think she will be even stronger horse as a 5YO and we should have a lot of fun with her through the season."

This mare's breeding backs up Ollie's view. Bred along similar lines to Blitzle, with a fantastic pedigree on the dam side. Keldeo's mother won twice and she was a sister of Group Three winner Salford Secret. The second dam's offspring reads like a who's who of top-grade racehorses: Dylan Thomas, Homecoming Queen, and Queen's Logic all achieving super-star status.

"I know she is really popular with shareholders and she is a horse we love at the yard. She was such a baby when she arrived as she had only just turned one it feels like she's been here much longer than she has." stated Ollie Pears

He added, "The one thing about this filly is that she keeps improving. That's what every trainer is looking for - a horse with the potential to work their way up the handicap and into the big-money races. She has the potential to do that."

Keldeo is a very exciting racehorse who potentially contests quality handicaps, specifically in sprint races over five and six furlongs. She has proved she can be a threat in classy handicaps and 2026 should be a season just like 2025 where she ran in some top grade racecourses and competed for decent prizemoney.

Form & Race Plans

The race plans for this mare will be determined by her level of ability shown at home and on the course in 2026. She will certainly be racing over sprint distances, although Ollie has intimated that he expects to race her over both five and possibly an easy six furlongs.

Off her current rating, the standard route for a horse of this type will be to contest 0-80 and 0-85 handicaps. However, if as we hope, she keeps improving, she may be good enough to tackle Class 2 oor 3 Handicaps and possibly even Listed or Conditions races

We have seen her run well on a variety of different surfaces, including the All-Weather. It would appear that Keldeo is more than capable of handling all ground types, but we would expect Ollie to avoid the extremes of ‘Firm’ or ‘Heavy’.

Your online Racehorse Manager will provide full details of all developments in terms of the mare's progress and race planning as the months roll by.

Keldeo 2026 Guarantee

We expect to get 3-7 runs and sometimes more from all our 5YO horses per share period, however, you should expect periods of no racing as a result of recuperation from injury or training setbacks. This share period starts properly at the start of the turf season on April 1st 2026 and runs through the turf season until November 1st 2026, however, we will be reporting on the mare before the share period starts (from January 2026) should we have anything of importance to share with shareholders.

During the season the horse may be rested or have time away from the track to recover and it is quite normal for a flat horse to have periods of 3-6 weeks of rest between races.

We provide guarantees with all our racehorses: If this mare has a season-ending injury and has not already RACED TWICE during the share period, we will replace her with an alternative horse for the remainder of the season. Replacement horses may not be of the same quality, are provided with no further guarantees and no alternative choice can be provided. Prizemoney cannot be paid on any replacements, but all other benefits such as yard visits and race day badges are available.

As a shareholder you must understand that we cannot guarantee your horse's performance, a specific volume of runs (beyond our minimum guarantee if injured) or that runs will be evenly spaced throughout the share period. This is the chance you take when owning any racehorse and participating in this ownership experience. If you will be disappointed with only 2-3 runs from your racehorse during the season, then please DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS OR ANY OTHER RACEHORSE, as you could be disappointed. We believe in being crystal clear with our shareholders - any participation in racehorse ownership is a risk, and we are unable to make any refunds because of share periods which finish early due to injury or retirement - as training and livery fees for the horse still remain whether they are racing or not and part of your lease payment covers their build-up to the season.

These risks are the chance all shareholders take, as we do ourselves when participating in the ownership of racehorses.
