Adam West trains Big Bear Hug to win at Newmarket
The 4YO filly Big Bear Hug shed her maiden tag earlier this season at Leicester and today she went one better, winning a £10k race at Newmarket. Despite the heavy ground, the mare flew in the closing stages to record a thumping victory at HQ. Ownaracehorse shareholders endured a long wait until the last race (race nine!), but it was worth it - the mare stretched away to land this Class 5 handicap in great style.
The mare was once again provided with a great ride from Trevor Whelan to easily land this 0-78 rated handicap for her shareholders on testing ground over a mile. Trainer Adam West is over in the USA with Live In The Dream at present, but was watching and said afterwards, 'She's always had a race like this in her, and she showed that today.'
Once again the mare was allowed off at generous odds, winning at 25/1 and available at 33/1 before the off. View the full result on the Racing Post website, or Watch the race below!
