Big Bear Hug leaves her rivals flailing
In a tactical encounter over Kempton's ten furlongs, the 7YO mare Big Bear Hug proved she still has plenty of gears when she came slicing through the field in the last two furlongs under apprentice Alfie Redman to record a facile victory. Forced onto the All-Weather due to the prevailing firm ground in the south of the country, Big Bear Hug made short work of her rivals, and was pulling away from the field (which included an odds-on favourite) to land the £4,200 first prize in this Class 5 event. The mare really flew in the closing stages to record a resounding victory.
A good number of Ownaracehorse shareholders endured the high temperatures, but it was worth it - the mare stretched away to land this Class 5 handicap in great style at rewarding odds of 22/1.
The mare was provided with a great ride from young Alfie Redman to land this 0-70 rated handicap, who had to come through almost every rival to land the spoils. Watch the replay below - he guides BBH through with a certain aplomb!
