Newmarket joy and double glory at Wolverhampton!
....................................................................................
October 2005
Fullandby's workmanlike victory at Newmarket on Friday
made it three winners within seven days for Ownaracehorse shareholders.
Tim Etherington produced the gelding to win in a conditions race at
Newmarket and pushed Fullandby's earnings past the £20,000 mark for the
season. This horse has been the star of the yard this year, only
once being unplaced in nine runs this year!
Shareholders at Ownaracehorse also had plenty to cheer about
this weekend. We had two horses declared at Wolverhampton on
Saturday October 22nd, and both of them won!
Both horses were trained by Tim Etherington at Malton, and both were
ridden by Saleem Golam, who is making a mark in the apprentice ranks.
The first on the card was a Median Auction race for two year olds, where
our horse Soviet Legend was installed as a 20/1 outsider. However,
even though he was bumped and bashed around in the first furlong by
other horses he battled on stoutly to record his first win of his
career, winning by a short-head.
He is a feisty little gelding who has matured well in the last few
months and shares are currently available in him for next year when he
will race as a three-year-old, predominantly in handicaps. He went
in at 20/1 and provided plenty of excitement for his shareholders.
Then is was the turn of Colloseum, a four-year-old who hasn't had much
luck this season, after being balloted out of fourteen races this year.
At last we managed to get him into the perfect race for him and he won
readily by a length and a quarter at 7/1.
So all in all a great day - for our trainer, Tim Etherington, our jockey
Saleem Golam and most importantly, for all our shareholders, some of
which were at the track to witness the joy after being very patient with
both these horses.
