Fullandby wins at Ayr...
....................................................................................
August 2005
Fullandby looked all over the favourite in this contest,
and so it turned out. With three non-runners reducing the field to six
runners, the task was made easier for Fullandby, but he was still having
to better his elders.
After getting away from the stalls well Kevin Darley stuck to the rails,
tracking the leading two runners. Basically he sat there, travelling
really well, and waited for the fronto two to weaken, at which stage he
moved Fullandby off the rail and passed the leading horse after a few
strides.
At the one furlong pole he kicked again and asked the horse to lengthen
and he powered away from Brigadore, who was the only challenger of any
note, and he was put in his place after a couple of strides. He did
move a little to his right, away from the far rail, but it was far less
pronounced than when he won at Wolverhampton.
Before the line Kevin Darley was able to stop riding and let your horse
coast to a decent win, despite the weakened opposition.
