Notable Runs:
30 August
TREASON TRIAL - 3rd 18/1
Despite not really getting on with the idiosyncracies of Cartmel Treason Trial
runs another sound race to force his way into third place. Will be seen to
better effect when back on a more suitable course.
27 August
NAMIR - WON 4/1
The veteran sprinter finally gets his reward by comfortably landing this Bath
sprint in ground with plenty of cut. Under a smooth ride from Jim Crowley
Namir wins his NINTH race for Ownaracehorse shareholders. A deserved
victory following some close calls since joining James Evans.
21 August
TREASON TRIAL - 2nd 16/1
Back at Market Rasen and 'Trevor' puts in another very promising display and
gives his shareholders another visit to the winners enclosure. Following
just two runs in Novice Hurdles he is awarded a BHA mark of 95. Should be
going one better soon.
17 August
SHAKESPEARE'S SON - 2nd 4/1
Placing number 18 for this talented but quirky gelding. John Fahy did
everything right on the horse who looked all over the winner through the final
furlong but just put his head up at the wrong time and was denied by the
shortest of short-heads.
11 August
SANDWITH - 3rd 12/1
Another solid effort from the five furlong sprinter who really went through with
his effort here having looked like he was going to be swallowed up two furlongs
from home. Deserves a win after a sequence of decent efforts.
06 August
AMICAL RISKS - 3rd 5/1
Yet again the Amical Risks/Eleanor McGowan pairing force their way into the
prize money at Haydock. Another cool ride from this young jockey as she
just fails to persuade Amical Risks to put his head in front on the line.
01 August
TREASON TRIAL - 3rd 33/1
Treason Trial exceeds expectations with a very encouraging debut effort over
hurdles when running into a place at very long odds. Although beaten a
long way a small Novice Hurdle should be on his radar in the near future.
31 July
AMICAL RISKS - 2nd 6/1
Once again Eleanor McGowan rides a very polished race holding up Amical Risks
for a late run. The pair sweep passed the whole field except the winner
that had stolen first run on the horse.
21 July
AMICAL RISKS - 3rd 7/1
Despite losing a tremendous amount of ground at the start, young jockey Eleanor
McGowan rode a tremendous race to coax the horse back into the race.
Blocked in their run along the straight they might even have been considered
unlucky not to have been landing maximum spoils.
13 July
SHAKESPEARE'S SON - 3rd 9/1
Yet another placed effort from Shakespeare's Son who has been placed seventeen
times. Needed this run to be a good one in order to prevent his mark slipping
too low. Looked threatening a furlong out but John Fahy could not quite
coax a winning effort out this quirky customer.
13 July
NAMIR - 2nd 15/2
James Evans veteran sprinter shows there is life in the old gelding yet.
Returning to the scene of two of his career victories Namir runs a superb race
and is only beaten three quarters of a length finishing fast under a good ride
from John Fahy.
12 July
MY BEST BET - 2nd 9/2
Yet again My Best Bet has run her heart out and been done by an unexposed horse
that she was giving 11lbs to. Tom Queally has ridden this horse five times
and never have they been out the frame. Surely a win is just around the
corner for this wonderful horse.
30 June
MY BEST BET - 3rd 11/1
Stef Higgins' filly just doesn't know how to run a bad race. In a race run
in a very fast time she came from a long way back under Tom Queally and was
beaten by an unexposed well thought of horse and a very solid All Weather
yardstick.
28 June
SANDWITH - 3rd 100/30
Another game run by Sandwith, this time at Musselburgh. The rain probably
came just a few hours too late but this game sprinter still ran a superb race to
get himself into the prize money again.
03 June
SANDWITH - 2nd 11/1
For a moment it looked like a fairytale return to the saddle for Lee Newman
and a winner from just our second runner from George Foster's yard near
Haddington. In the end the sprinter was denied by an in form rival but ran
out clear second best indicating that a win may not be too long in coming.
31 May
MY BEST BET - 3rd 9/2
In a race not really run to suit due to a very sedate early pace, My Best Bet
showed plenty of resolve to battle on and hold on to third in this competitive
fillies Handicap. She looks sure to find a race soon enough and could well
step back up to 8f for her next outing.
04 May
MY BEST BET - 2nd 11/2
My Best Bet ran a cracking race on her return to the course at Bath. After
a slightly tardy start and a less than clear run the filly picked up really well
in the final furlong just failing to peg back the winner by a short-head.
A win looks just around the corner for her.
26 April
CAPTAIN CORNELIUS - 4th 33/1
Perhaps a fourth in a maiden might not qualify as a notable run but spare a
thought for Captain Cornelius. He is missing his left eye and a lack of
opportunities saw him make his debut on a left handed track. Expectations
were low and yet he ran on superbly well along the Newcastle straight to finish
fourth, only a few lengths behind an 80-rated horse from the Mark Johnston yard.
If he builds on this effort he is sure to become a very popular horse.
23 April
PANAMA AT ONCE - 3rd 15/2
Arguably a career best effort from Panama At Once as he finishes third in the
ultra competitive Highland National at Perth. Looking beaten four out Tom
Messenger nurses the horse home in really testing conditions with many well
thought of handicap chasers well behind.
20 April
AMICAL RISKS - 3rd 9/2
Amical Risks maintained his superbly consistent run with this third at
Wolverhampton. Possibly given a little too much to do he still ran on in
game style and should continue to give his shareholders many good efforts.
19 April
PANAMA AT ONCE - WON 7/1
Panama At Once ran his rivals ragged at Hexham. Despite the official going
there was enough cut in the ground for the chaser to show his best form for some
time and coast to a ready seven length success.
03 April
PANAMA AT ONCE - 3rd 12/1
Panama At Once forces his way back into the places with this run at Carlisle.
On his favoured heavy ground he just found the concession of weight too much to
ask.
12 March
AMICAL RISKS - 2nd 6/4
Amical Risks just fails to follow up his previous week's victory over the same
C/D. Took the lead a furlong out but was just outpointed through the final
furlong under Greg Fairley.
11March
SHAKESPEARE'S SON - 3rd 8/1
Another placed effort from Shakespeare's Son who continues to run in consistent
form. This looked a fair race for the grade and while never going to win
he pulled nicely away from the rest of the field.
05 March
AMICAL RISKS - WON 4/1
Amical Risks lands the spoils on his first run in the Ownaracehorse colours
under an excellent ride from David Kenny. The win gives trainer Joss
Saville his first winner on the flat.
18 February
MY BEST BET - 3rd 4/1
Stef Liddiard's My Best Bet runs another great race in the Ownaracehorse colours
to finish third in this competitive Handicap. Denied a run at a crucial
stage having made really smooth progress both trainer and jockey remain
convinced it is just a matter of time before she is winning again.
05 February
SHAKESPEARE'S SON - 3rd 7/2
Shakespeare's Son adds to his consistent sequence of events by getting
placed for the third time in his past four outings. Having been slowly
away the gelding had plenty to do along the straight and showed plenty of zest
to go past most of the field.
03 February
SARAH'S ART
-
WON 9/1
The grey does it again for Ownaracehorse shareholders. Following FIVE wins
in 2009 he registers his first win of 2010 off a career high mark. Running
over 7f at Lingfield he wins in very cosy style under a perfect ride from Tom
Queally.
28 January
COUNCELLOR - 2nd 7/1
A cracking effort from Councellor who was a clear second in this very
competitive Class 3 8f Handicap. Running off 89 he showed he was clearly
over the injury he sustained in 2009 and there is surely a decent handicap in
him in the coming months.
