Crumble is a
big, tough and versatile mare, but this winter will see the
culmination of three years of planning with this National Hunt bred
When you are bringing a nice horse along, time and patience are the
two essential ingredients. That's what Crumble, our hope for
chasing success has had lavished on her over the last three years
since we bought her from the National Hunt 'Store' sales - but now
this mare is ready to get her racing career properly underway.
By recognised National Hunt
sire Karinga Bay, this mare is a daughter of a
three-times chase winner.
She had a few quiet races over hurdles late last year,
gaining experience each time over the smaller fences,
but this winter will see her doing the job she is really
bred for - Chasing.
She has only raced over inadequate trips so far -
staying on nicely at the end of each race, for this big
bay mare will be a force when she steps up to three
miles and above.
Richie McGrath rode her in
her last hurdle at Carlisle and told us she was a really
nice mare, but she needed a bit more time, and a couple
more races over hurdles for experience - but that she
would be a really nice chasing prospect.
We've followed his advice to the letter - she will be
out in October and September over hurdles for further
experience, and then she will face the chase fences.
We already know she is an excellent jumper, but we
believe that move to chase fences and the stamina
sapping three miles and above will be the making of her.
Shares are already available in Crumble for her winter
campaign - and we are already reporting on her on an
ad-hoc basis, which will become far more frequent as we
reach the start of her share period in September.
