|Ownaracehorse to support Derek Shaw's August Charity Open Day at his yard in Sproxton, Leicestershire.|
|DATE POSTED: 28/07/2011|
proud to be one of the supporters of a Charity Open Day set to
happen at one of our trainers yards. Derek Shaw will stage an
Open Day and Party in aid of the Leicestershire Air Ambulance...
Derek Shaw and his wife Lyndsey tragically lost their young daughter in a freak accident less than eighteen months ago.
Their little girl was air-lifted to hospital in January 2010, but despite excellent efforts by the emergency services, Ellie Mae couldn't be saved.
As a thank you for the efforts by the Air Ambulance in particular, Derek and Lyndsey will be throwing open the doors to their yard on Sunday, August 21st 2011. They are staging an open day which will include an array of events, including a Hog Roast, horses on the gallops, a demonstration of a horse being broken and backed by a horse whisperer plus a live music in the evening. There are plenty of other things to see as well which will suit any racing or equine enthusiast, and Ownaracehorse are delighted to be involved.
Ownaracehorse will be supporting the Open Day with free racehorse shares going into the raffle, as well as being there throughout the event to speak to our shareholders and anyone interested in supporting the cause. A few of our horses may well figure in the gallops demonstration.
The doors open at 1-00pm, but attendees will be able to arrive at any point during the afternoon and enjoy the activities and refreshments at their leisure. Its expected that The Hog Roast will be ready from late afternoon as the main part of the day will be from 3-00pm through to 6-00pm, and you can stay as late as you wish. There will also be a bar, professionally run by a local Publican with all profits going to the cause.
The only restriction is that children under ten will be unable to attend. This is unfortunately due to the insurance costs involved in staging an event of this nature.
You may also be rubbing shoulders with plenty of well-known people from racing, as a number of high profile jockeys and other trainers are already committed to attend. The raffle includes some excellent prizes as well.
There is a charge for the event - £25.00 per person - all of which will go to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance. You can get full details by clicking on the PDF attached to this posting, and you can order tickets (entrance is by ticket only) by calling Derek and Lyndsey direct on 01476 860578 or 07721 039645.
The yard is based in a very quiet and beautiful part of Leicestershire, near Sproxton, a few miles from Melton Mowbray.
If you want any further information we suggest you speak to Lyndsey Shaw, but we will be more than happy to help if we can.
This is a cause very close to Derek and Lyndsey's heart and we're going to be doing everything we can to ensure the Open Day will be a great success.
The yard is currently gearing up for Derek's assault on the All-Weather trainers title and there are over 30 horses in full training in the yard at present, including three horses available shortly on the Ownaracehorse website.
We hope shareholders and indeed anyone simply visiting our website will consider attending the Open Day and supporting a very worthwhile and indeed essential, life saving, service.
