Crumble is building up to a winter of Novice Chasing

Our Novice Chaser, Crumble, is back!  Having had an enforced winter off in 2012, our seven-year-old mare is back in full training and all set to race through the winter of 2013 to 2014....

Following a great introduction to jumping back in 2011, Crumble, our seven-year-old mare is now all ready to start her Novice Chasing career this winter.

Crumble has been one of Ownaracehorse's long term projects - we have owned her for over three years, having bought her at the 'Store Sales' back in 2010.  She is a lovely big mare, standing over 16-2 hands, with plenty of scope to jump chase fences.

We are hoping that 2013-14 will be the year this mare breaks through on the racecourse.  So far this mare has received an education over hurdles and in National Hunt Flat races.  Following her third run jockey Richie McGrath advised us to give her plenty of time and put her over the bigger chase fences this year - which is what we have done.  Crumble will probably have a run over hurdles in November and then will start over the bigger obstacles at Christmas.

She comes from a good family - both her siblings have won Point to Points and her mother won eight chase races over a four year career.  We already know that this mare loves heavy or soft going and she can certainly jump a chase fence!  We are looking forward to getting her out onto a racecourse this winter over three miles or further and with chase fences in front of her.

At present Crumble is at our pre-training yard at Gisburn in Lancashire, but in October she will travel the thirty miles North to Middleham where she will be trained by Philip Kirby, who has been a high profile trainer since moving to his new training base.  Philip's first love is for jump horses, and Crumble could not be in better hands for the forthcoming season.

Shares are great value for Crumble because a share in her comes with a free one in veteran chaser Panama At Once.  He is getting on now, but shareholders will get the chance to go to Point to Points and also be a part of his Hunter Chase season this winter.  We had a couple of great days out with 'Reece' last season - including when he finished third at Carlisle at 66/1!
