|2YO Colt Studio Star finishes in the frame on his first visit to a racecourse|
|DATE POSTED: 28/05/2014|
Studio Star, a 2YO
Colt trained by Ollie Pears has enjoyed a good introduction to
racing by finishing 3rd of 10 runners at Beverley over the May Bank
Holiday weekend, and now he has loftier ambitions at York...
Studio Star finishes 3rd on debut at Beverley on May 24th
On debut Studio Star ran a great race under Ollie Pears to finish third in a decent enough Maiden at York last Saturday. For an opening run, the colt showed plenty of speed and stayed on well up the hill at Beverley.
Trainer Ollie Pears was delighted with this opening effort, and noted that the Colt had still run slightly green in the early stages of the race before he put his head down, passed a handful of horses and ran on into third.
"He isn't the biggest Colt around, but he is big hearted and really tries. He picked up at about two out and went past a group of horses which where far more well fancied than he was and now he's booked a place in the line-up in the Rous Stakes at York." stated Ollie Pears after the race.
The aim now is to take 'Studio' to York on Friday June 13th to the first day of their Charity Racemeeting and compete over six furlongs - a distance his trainer believes will be just right for this improving 2YO.
Ollie remarked to shareholders about this colt over the weekend "He has done nothing but improve since February. He was a little backward early in the year, but he has really blossomed in the last few months and he gets better and better every day."
Studio Star has come out of his race at Beverley well, and is now on course to build up for his next run - which is only a fortnight away.
