A total of 60
Ownaracehorse shareholders attended our Spring visit to Ollie Pears'
yard at Malton last Sunday, so about 120 people were treated to a
fabulously in-depth tour of the yard, free refreshments and then a
trip up to the gallops to see our two 2YO's work...
It was like a summers day in Malton on Sunday! The sun was
beating down on an immaculate racing yard, about 35 very
well-looking thoroughbreds and Ollie Pears and his staff were on
hand to provide a memorable morning out.
To start proceedings Ollie
provided shareholders will all the latest information
surrounding our brace of two-year-olds at the yard -
Poppy's Purse and Throwing Roses.
The two filly's were in very good order and looked
magnificent with the sun hitting their coats. Both
2YO's are likely to be racing at the very start of the
season in April with Throwing Roses being the first of
the two expected to hit the racetrack..
Throwing Roses and
shareholder Charlie swap a knowing look...
Shareholders were then treated to a
personal tour of the yard from Ollie, who provided a detailed report
on virtually every horse in the yard. Then it was a short trip
to the top of the Wold Gallop where were saw the two-year-olds
breeze up the All-Weather gallop within a superb setting.
This was the first of two visits we organise to each of our trainers
per season, so we will be returning to Ollie's in September.
However, its Philip Kirby's turn next - we go to his hard on April
22nd, followed by Derek Shaw on May 13th.
The visits we organise are an integral part of the ownership
experience - providing our shareholders with the opportunity to get
to know their horse on first hand terms, and with trainers like
Ollie Pears, our shareholders had the sort of experience which we
know many owners there on Sunday are likely to never forget.
