Countdown started for Petrus De Sormain and Cherrycake
    DATE POSTED: 28/02/2011
March 2011 sees the Ownaracehorse syndicates start to buzz, as no less than 50% of our racehorses are set to get entries, race, or get ready to race once the flat season starts at the end of the month.

Petrus De Sormain is likely to be our 800th runner (see previous news) as he gets a batch of entries for races in the first and second week of the month.  He's had to wait on the sidelines as a result of the consistently heavy ground in the Midlands, but should get his chance at Ffos Las or the free-draining Huntingdon.

He is a potentially very well handicapped horse, and is set to race right through the summer jumps season - and is of even more interest when you consider that he will probably be going chasing later in the year.

Philip Kirby has confirmed that Cherrycake, our unraced National Hunt mare is now ready to go racing as well - so she may well be out the day after Petrus, at Newcastle.  This big mare will start over hurdles, but chasing will be her game and she is another who will jump a fence before the end of the summer.

No less than four of our flat horses are due to get entries at the very start of the turf - as our trainers waste no time getting ready for the turf.  Bachelor Knight, Amical Risks, Sandwith and Bahamian Kid are all expected to see a racecourse in the opening days of the flat season.  Amical Risks is all set to race on Lincoln Day at Doncaster - the same meeting last season where he gave his shareholders a wonderful day out and a place in the winners enclosure.

However, its the jumpers who will get all the attention in the next fortnight - Cherrycake and Petrus de Sormian will be joined by Panama At Once, who is expected to run at Hexham during Cheltenham week.
