Chateau Lola comes good at Wolverhampton on Friday night
    DATE POSTED: 22/02/2013
Chateau Lola has been dealt some tough luck in her races this winter, but everything went right on Friday evening at Wolverhampton when the 4YO filly delivered a measured performance to win for shareholders...

In the depths of winter, there was some cold, but happy souls at Wolverhampton racecourse last night, as our All-Weather horse Chateau Lola managed to record her first win of the All-Weather season.

Trained by Derek Shaw, Chateau Lola had been knocking on the door a few times in December, but had then struggled with poor draws and traffic problems in the new year - but all that was swept away with her performance last night when running out the one length winner of a small handicap.

Shareholders were there to witness the win, and enjoy complimentary champagne and food after the race, and along with trainer Derek Shaw, who came into the winners room to speak about the race.

However, it was probably the jockey Joe Fanning who needs to take the plaudits, as he rode a peach of a race to place the filly in the right place at the right time.  In the end, the filly actually strode out to the line and recorded a one length victory, but as the Racing Post reported, she was in command of the race at the line.

Derek will be entering her once again - for a similar race next Friday at Wolverhampton, and despite shouldering a penalty for this win, the way she did it would suggest it was certainly worth trying - and shareholders at the track agreed!

Congratulations to all concerned - a memorable night at Wolverhampton and a victory which this filly by Byron really deserved after being 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on previous occasions this winter.  The filly's shares are sold out for this winter, but with another 6 weeks of the winter season left, she should be a filly to follow!
