Philip Kirby yard visit is a real eye-opener

    DATE POSTED: 22/06/2012

Philip Kirby is one of those trainers which you can see making it big in the near future, and having had our shareholder Autumn yard visit last Sunday, it seems like the likeable North Yorkshire handler could well be on his way...

Philip Kirby currently trains both Stormy Morning (won and been placed five times this year so far) and Crumble (young mare destined to go Novice Chasing this winter) for our shareholders, and at our yard visit on Sunday (21st October) was full of hope for both of these very different horses.

Philip has risen through the training ranks in the last five years to become a regular feature of racing in the North.

Whilst he started to make his mark with jumpers, this year has seen a marked increase in his runners - and winners - on the turf.

Shareholders enjoyed glorious sunshine on Sunday as Philip paraded both Ownaracehorse horses, as well as sharing his hopes for a number of other horses for the up-coming winter season with his appreciative audience.

Stormy Morning is due to resume hurdling in about a fortnight, whilst Crumble will have a few spins over hurdles before starting her 'real' job of Novice Chasing.

Philip has a strong team of jumpers ready for the winter, and we would suggest you keep an eye on this wily young trainer - his jumps winners will start to flow soon enough based on what we saw and heard on Sunday!

This visit was one of three yards we have visited in the last few weeks - with shareholders enjoying a rare opportunity to get up close to their horses and get to know them on a one-to-one basis.  We also have a visit to Derek Shaw's yard in Leicestershire coming up in November.  All our yard visits are completely free and are held in an informal, friendly atmosphere which is all about the horse, rather than attempting to sell shares.  Frankly, our horses sell themselves anyway!
