|Petrus set to go to Hereford on Wednesday|
|DATE POSTED: 22/03/2011|
Sormain is set to start his 2011 season at Hereford on Wednesday
23rd March. Following a couple of entries which had to be
missed due to the ground, trainer James Evans is hopeful the gelding
will get the good ground he needs...
Petrus De Sormain has been declared to race at Hereford tomorrow, after a frustrating time in the last fortnight where we've been waiting to get the decent ground he needs to be at his best, and which will give the gelding a good re-introduction to racing after six months off.
Hereford stage a seven race meeting on Wednesday, and we're involved in the penultimate race, up against seven rivals and chasing a prize fund of over £2,500.
James Evans has been knocking on the door lately with his jumpers, as well as having had a winner over a fortnight ago, and we've got the handy apprentice Rob Kirk aboard 'Petrus', claiming a further seven pounds off his back.
This gelding tends to run quite well fresh, so we're hopeful for shareholders that he will regain his form from two years ago that saw him winning and being placed in a string of races. This will be his opening run of the season, before he embarks on a summer campaign, as he loves the faster ground.
However, for his opening run we are looking for a nice safe surface, and want him to put in a good round of jumping and come home fit and well.
You can watch how Petrus gets on on Attheraces on Sky channel 415 - the race starts at 4-50pm.
