|It's two wins in a week for Ownaracehorse shareholders as Dad's Girl leads the field home at Musselburgh|
|DATE POSTED: 21/08/2014|
You wait all month,
and then suddenly there are two winners within the same week.
Ownaracehorse shareholders are celebrating this week as both Studio
Star and Dad's Girl won their races this week...
Dad's Girl was having only her third outing of her career on Wednesday and made joint second favourite for the Maiden Auction race at Musselburgh, but the 2YO filly made short work of her three rivals, coming home first at 9/4 and recording a good time in the process.
Dad's Girl wins at Musselburgh - recording less than a minute for the five furlongs
This 2YO has always been the apple of her trainers eye, after being picked up cheaply at the sales because she possessed a really good walk, and she fulfilled all that hope with a very decent win at Musselburgh.
Despite there only being four runners, the filly showed a tremendous amount of speed to jump out of the stalls and get across to the inside rail, even though she was drawn on the far right. From that point on she made the race her own, never being headed and fighting off all challengers with aplomb.
Ian Brennan, who rode the 2YO to victory stated "She's always had too much for them. When they got a bit close she just pulled more out and she's won it nicely for me."
Ollie Pears was delighted with the win and admitted afterwards that he had been quite sure that the filly would go well, adding "She's been working really well at home recently and has come on for that last run at Beverley, I would have been disappointed with any other result today."
The filly will now most likely return to Scotland in another fortnight to three weeks for a handicap over the same course and distance. Beyond that, the filly will definitely be staying in training with Ollie Pears for the 2015 season.
We have two 10% outright shares available in Dad's Girl which are reasonably priced and include free Owners badges and all our 'Private Service' benefits. For details, please contact our Helpdesk via our contact us page or by phone.
