|Flat season only a matter of weeks away|
|DATE POSTED: 19/02/2011|
Despite the fact that its snowing out
there and there's only a few snowdrops and daffodils poking through
the ground, the flat season is now just over a month away!
We've geared many of our racehorses for a flat campaign this year, rather than the All-Weather, so it will be all systems go in the coming few weeks. Our trainers are readying our charges and we could have a very early start to the turf:
Is set to race on April 1st - the first flat meeting in Scotland is at Musselburgh on Friday 1st and is only the second meeting of the season. This handicapper is well on the way to full fitness and we're really looking forward to him coming back after a successful campaign last year.
Has been running on the All-Weather of late, but will now be saved for the turf. He's all set to go to the Doncaster Lincoln meeting on April 2nd - to contest a handicap he finished fourth in last season (16 runners).
According to Ollie Pears, this gelding is making giant strides forward, and we're hoping he will grace a grass course in April. Storm Blue is sold out, apart from one Private Service share.
Is fit and well and should be out in April.
COUNCELLOR AND MY BEST BET
Have both had the winter off - but Stef Higgins is aiming to have them both back and racing in the spring.
George Foster is delighted with this new recruit - and he's made a big impression at the East Lothian yard. He will be out in mid-April.
Then of course there are our summer jumpers - horses like Cherrycake, Petrus de Sormain and Friendship Bay - all of whom will be racing right through the year. So there plenty of anticipation in the Ownaracehorse camp - we believe we have one of the best set of racehorses we've ever owned going into a flat season, and it will all kick off on April 1st with Sandwith.
