Baking hot racing conditions - but we still have runners expected in the next fortnight

Ownaracehorse currently has ten horses in training, but with the current heat wave hitting the UK, finding decent ground for these runners is proving difficult.  However, we still expect a few runners in the coming weeks...

You only have to look at the number of runners at the turf meetings at the moment to realise that many turf horses are being kept at home at present.

With fields of less than five runners beginning to be the norm, racing on the grass has become a difficult affair for any racehorse which needs a little 'cut' in the ground.

However, we still have a few firm going specialists amongst our racehorses in training for the summer, and they are set to make hay whilst the dry spell lasts.

Brunello, our lovely big stayer is set to race next week at Ayr or elsewhere, and Shamrocked, our latest addition to the stable is set to race at Redcar at the end of July.

The firm ground is also meaning that some of our flat horses are looking to the articial surfaces in order to get racing into them, so we expect to see Faye Belle, Copper Leyf and Street Power all getting entries on the Polytrack surfaces in the coming weeks.

That's assuming we don't end up with a monsoon through August!

A few shares still remain in Shamrocked for this summer
