Precipitation makes trainers lives more bearable.
    DATE POSTED: 17/05/2011
Its been a frustrating time for trainers in the last five to six weeks, with precious little rain to be found anywhere in the country, and soft ground a long, distant memory.

However, with the last few days seeing some decent rainfall, we've had a sudden rise in expectations of racing from our 14 strong string.  Ollie Pears, George Foster and Stef Higgins are all reporting their plans to race our horses, and we're expecting entries very soon for a group of about seven racehorses.

There has been frustration aplenty for our dual purpose trainer James Evans.  Yesterday he was busy foaling a full brother to Friendship Bay until the small hours (Mother and foal doing well), and then set off to Newton Abbot, a 4 hour, 500 mile round journey only to find that the reported Good, Good to Firm ground, was in fact firm - and had to turn around with our horse, Petrus de Sormain and go home as the gelding needed ground which wouldn't jar him up.  There were a number of withdrawals on the day of the race, but this wasted trip came on the back of a similar experience only a fortnight ago for the same racehorse.

So the current wet spell is something of a godsend!  we're hoping to find an opening for Petrus De Sormain in the next week.

Look out for at least six runners from our string in the next 4-8 days.
