Stormy Morning finishes second at Musselburgh to round off a great flat season for his shareholders

    DATE: 16/05/2011

Stormy Morning completed a wonderful 2012 on the flat with another great effort at Musselburgh on Monday afternoon...

Philip Kirby could be forgiven for being slightly disappointed with the amount of prizemoney won by Stormy Morning this season - as the gelding has won of been placed in five of his ten races this season.

Speaking last night after the race, trainer Philip Kirby stated "He's run another great race for us - and remember he was giving that winner a full stone in weight today - and on soft ground."

He's deserved to get more prizemoney than he has this year - he's found one too good for him on a couple of occasions, and only went down by a head in one of those seconds." he added.

"That's it for the flat now - there's nothing left for him now, so I'll be searching for a hurdle now."

Philip continued "But he's a wonderful horse, a real character and in his prime at the moment.  He stays all day and off his current handicap mark over hurdles I think we can do some damage with him."

Stormy Morning will now head over hurdles through the winter.  He's the sort that needs to be kept on the go, with plenty to think about, so Philip will be looking for a handicap hurdle, probably in the Yorkshire area, to continue the gelding's run of good performances.

Philip concluded "He's a really robust and hard worker.  Over hurdles he will go on pretty much anything, so I expect to se him out in early November next.

Shares are still available in Stormy Morning for his winter season, which has already started, but his seasonal debut over hurdles will not be for another couple of weeks.  However, shareholders will get to see the gelding on Sunday, as we hold our Autumn visit to the yard on Sunday October 21st.
