Miss Starry Eyed close to completing her pre-training before joining Derek Shaw in Leicestershire

    DATE: 16/02/2011

Miss Starry Eyed is amongst three un-raced 2YO's we are heading into the 2012 season with this year, and the latest update on this daughter of Misu Bond is that she will be making the trip to her trainer Derek Shaw in the next few weeks...

Miss Starry Eyed is currently at our pre-training yard in Gisburn, Lancashire, but she is due to join Derek Shaw in Leicestershire to complete her preparation.

This filly has grown considerably since we picked her up at the Doncaster Yearling Sales last November.  She's a compact filly, but has grown in virtually every direction over the last few months.  Indeed she has grown an inch in just the last four weeks!

Related to a line of sprinters, this filly has similar characteristics to her full brother Pint Size, winner of three races in his 2YO career (in 2011).  We are hoping she will follow in her brother's footsteps and race successfully through 2012 for her shareholders, having placed her with a trainer who has been very successful with these sprint types in his career to date.

This filly is currently on the gallops each day, doing swinging work up the steady uphill gallops on the fringes of the Pennines.

Known in the yard as 'Fleur' she will have a further few weeks at the pre-training yard before joining Derek Shaw in mid March.

As with any young horse, you really can't predict what this filly will produce on the racecourse until she starts her serious home work and then actually goes racing.  However, she does have a particularly good trot and steady canter, which is indicative of a horse which is well balanced, and therefore able to stride out when asked to quicken - perhaps a natural athlete.

Part of the experience of owning a racehorse is the anticipation of what an untried horse like Miss Starry Eyed could actually do on a racecourse.  That's why we keep our shareholders in our young untried horses up to date with regular updates on their latest exploits, even though the racing season is months away.  This week we posted an update on this filly, including photos and videos from the pre-training yard.

Next week 'Fleur' will be doing some more serious pieces of gallop work - which we will be capturing on video and making available to shareholders through our 'Racehorse Manager' system.
