|Shaws Diamond shines at Wolverhampton|
|DATE POSTED: 15/10/2011|
On only her second
run for shareholders this All-Weather season, Shaw's Diamond
displayed at wonderfully gutsy attitude to come through and almost
win on Friday evening at Wolverhampton...
Shaw's Diamond is a wonderfully well developed and well natured five-year-old mare - and yet she showed she has plenty of guts on Friday evening when digging deep to take second place over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton.
Trainer Derek Shaw had only five days previously spend Sunday morning with over 120 shareholders at his Autumn Yard Visit for Ownaracehorse shareholders, and he told everyone that he felt this mare was just on the way to getting close to another win, and so it proved.
The mare came with a run on the fence over a furlong and a half out, and only failed to peg back the leader by a diminishing half a length. Jockey Robbie Fitzpatrick gave the mare every chance and she responded well to his urgings - she was going on at the end of the race and must surely be an interesting prospect next time out.
There is still shares left in this lovely mare - and over six months of her share period to run, so there will be plenty more racing to be had from her. Derek was delighted with her run, and he is already looking for another opportunity to race her after such a promising performance.
She's entered at Yarmouth on Tuesday, but her participation will depend on how she emerges from her race on Friday evening.
