Klassy Lassy is the name chosen by Derek Shaw in our naming competiton for the Trade Fair filly

We regularly run competitions to name our younger racehorses, and the latest racehorse to get a name as chosen by one of the visitors to our website is a rather nice filly in training with Derek Shaw...

With over 1000 entrants to name our un-raced filly by Trade Fair out of a Kahyasi mare it was tough for our trainer Derek Shaw to choose from the thousands of shareholder suggestions, but one stood out for him - Klassy Lassy.

We're lucky that this name hasn't already been taken - so it is now being registered through Weatherbys.

Derek and his wife Lyndsey both spent over an hour going through all the names which shareholders must have anguished over when choosing their entry to the competition, but eventually Klassy Lassy won out, after a tight call between the last six names.

Derek said "This filly is just about ready to race, so we needed to get on and name her, and the way she has been performing up the gallops, I think this name could actually end up describing her perfectly!"

This 2YO has been given plenty of time to grow and develop in her own time, rather than being rushed into racing too early, and she could be having her opening few runs within the next 2-4 weeks.

The lucky winner of the competition will be contacted today - and was the only person to choose this particular name.

If you entered the competition and didn't win this time, don't worry, as we have a number of 2YO's coming along next year, so we expect we will be running another similar competition in the coming months.
