Four runners expected during Cheltenham week

    DATE POSTED: 11/03/2011

With Cheltenham week coming up soon, its looking like we will have four runners during the same period.

The first to race will be Cherrycake on Tuesday 15th at Sedgefield.  This mare will contest a mares only Novice Hurdle, and its her first time ever on a racecourse.  She's a lovely big mare who will go over hurdles a few times before attempting the bigger fences later in the season.

Another horse making its seasonal debut is Petrus De Sormain, and he is all set to race at Huntingdon on Wednesday 16th.  Good ground is essential for this likeable gelding, so we're hoping that the rain stays away from the course.  He goes in a 2m 5f Handicap Hurdle which will mark his return after a break.

Panama At Once will get his stamina tested once again on Thursday, as he contests the 4m Handicap Chase at Hexham on the 17th.  Trainer Philip Kirby won this race last season with another of his racehorses, but we're hoping that 'Reece' will bounce back to form and lift this valuable 6,500 first prize.  He will love the extended trip.

Then on Saturday evening it looks like Bachelor Knight will go back to Wolverhampton to compete in a six furlong claimer on the Polytrack.

So after a wait of two weeks without much going on, it appears that we will be very busy indeed during Cheltenham week, without visiting the home of National Hunt once!
