Throwing Roses is despatched to trainer Ollie Pears as the filly is ready to start the serious work which will see her racing

Un-raced two-year-olds are starting to be assessed and treated as early season or late season horses at the moment in training yards up and down the country.  After assessing our Clodovil filly, at our pre-training yard this well balanced filly has been sent to start the serious work with Ollie Pears with a pre-summer start for her on the cards...

Throwing Roses is our latest 2YO to join trainer Ollie Pears at his yard in Malton.  This daughter of Clodovil has grown well over the winter and has started her galloping regime.  So, it was time for her to go to Malton and start the next phase of her preparation.

Our pre-training yard contacted us late last week to suggest that Throwing Roses, a 2YO filly, was now ready to start galloping in a string.  She has been broken, ridden away and spent many days lunging and being ridden in the indoor school, but Carol Richardson, the head lass at the pre-training yard told us it was time to let a trainer get on with her.

So on Tuesday afternoon the filly was boxed up and left her stable in Lancashire which has been her home since October and made the 80 miles trip to Norton, just north of Malton.

Ollie Pears was there to greet his new inmate - she will be one of thirteen 2YO's Ollie will have in training for the 2012 flat season.  She will be joining another of our 2YO's at the yard, Poppy's Purse, who is already galloping up the Malton All-Weather exercise moors six days in every seven.

Ollie Pears said "She's a good looking filly and travelled well and has settled in to her new surroundings.  We'll be giving her a day or two to get over the travelling and get used to us and then we'll have her up the gallops for some initial swinging canters."

Of course its not just the fitness of the horse which Ollie has to manage - he will also be teaching the filly how to enter a set of starting stalls - and more importantly how to exit them quickly!  She will also be introduced to racing by being worked upsides other horses and learn how to respond when asked to chase and pass other horses.

However, for now, this filly is acclimatizing herself to the Yorkshire Wolds and a new stable full of new people. Our current expectation is that Throwing Roses should be the sort to start her racing career in Spring.

Shareholders in this horse, as with every other horse Ownaracehorse syndicate, have access to their own online 'Racehorse Manager' which provides regular detailed updates on their racehorse as well as photos and videos of their horses as they develop and race through the season.
