Dad's Girl and Studio Star making good progress in Malton

Our two 2YO's for this season are reported to be in good shape and trainer ollie Pears is reporting that both are looking like being early sorts...

It may well be the heart of the jumps season at the moment, but in Malton trainer Ollie Pears is concentrating on his flat horses and their build up to the new season which starts in only a few months time.

We have two new 2YO Syndicates for this year - Dad's Girl and Studio Star.  Both horses have been broken in and ridden away in November and spent December doing their first gallops up the Wold Gallop at Malton.

They are currently enjoying a short freshen-up after Christmas and from next week they will then begin their build up to the start of the flat season.
Dad's Girl - looking like an early sort.

Ollie Pears told us this week "Both your 2YO's are doing really well.  They have both grown over the last month and put on plenty of muscle now that they are on a racing diet."

"Next week we will start working them on the gallops again, following their couple of weeks freshen up, and then its full steam ahead into the flat season."

"Both 2YO's are definitely early sorts.  I've managed to get both of them ridden away well before Christmas and hopefully if everything goes to plan we will see them on a racecourse in April or May at the latest."

It's far too early to detect whether Studio Star and Dad's Girl will make it as winners, but based on their work to date, both have a good attitude and are quick learners. Both horses were bought for their sharpness and their potential as 2YO's, and so far they are showing plenty of promise.
