Stormy Morning hoping for a thaw next week but Philip Kirby will give him entries all over to try and catch a race meeting
    DATE POSTED: 08/02/2012
With the All-Weather keeping us going this week as every jumps card is abandoned, our winning hurdler Stormy Morning is ready to go - and will get up to three entries next week...

The current sub-zero temperatures are causing chaos with the National Hunt calendar, with it looking increasingly likely that we will have a blank 6-7 days for the jumpers.  Only Ayr managed to stage a meeting this week so far, and the outlook for the weekend doesn't fill racing enthusiasts with much hope.
One of those hoping for a bit more heat is our trainer Philip Kirby, who has a number of horses in the yard ready to go hurdling or chasing.

Amongst them is our winning hurdler Stormy Morning who will get up to three entries for next week.

On Monday we have our doubts over Catterick, where currently the ground is frozen and covered in snow

Should Catterick be called off we have options at Musselburgh on Thursday (which offers the best chance of a run) and then Fakenham on Friday.  This gelding is great value and will be racing all the way through to November, being a dual purpose racehorse for his shareholders.

Philip has his horses in good order at the moment, so we can't wait for Stormy Morning to reappear.  The form of other horses he has beaten or finished around recently makes him look an interesting prospect for a spring hurdles campaign.

We're also looking forward to seeing this gelding return to the flat at some point this summer.  He has some solid handicapping form over middle distances and Philip is expecting to add to this geldings flat tally when the weather gets warmer!
