|Stormy Morning runs well at Sedgefield|
|DATE POSTED: 07/12/2011|
new Novice Hurdler ran a very promising race at Sedgefield on
Tuesday. Stormy Morning has needed a couple of races to find
his feet, but once in a handicap the five-year-old displayed a good
turn of foot...
We have known for some time that Stormy Morning would prove to be a decent prospect for a National Hunt campaign through the winter of 2011, and he showed that he was no back number at Sedgefield on Tuesday 6th December.
The gelding had already had a couple of spins around courses in the North for trainer Philip Kirby in November, but once he had his handicap mark the gelding was always going to be better off.
He finished fourth on Tuesday, but his run was actually quite taking when you consider how he ploughed through the third last hurdle. He was on the bridle, and challenging the eventual winner when hitting the top fence quite hard, which cost him plenty of lengths, and its a credit to the horse that he was able to stand up and still get competitive.
Philip Kirby was delighted with the horse, and is looking forward to getting him back out after Christmas.
He said "That was a decent run, and if we can get him to concentrate a bit more at his fences he will win races for us."
Jockey Richie McGrath stated "He's come on a ton - and will be even better next time. he's a horse waiting to win in my opinion. He made mistakes at the last three fences, but the third last really knocked the stuffing out of him and it immediately cost me eight lengths. He did really well to stick on and see his race out the way he did."
Shares are available for his 2012 campaign, and Gift Packs can be bought for Christmas right up to December 20th.
