The firm ground at
Musselburgh was just what our long distance handicapper, Stormy
Morning, needed to re-discover his form, and he did it in some style...
Stormy Morning showed shareholders last season that he has ability
by winning at Sedgefield over hurdles in the winter, but our dual
purpose horse cruised to a 20/1 victory at Musselburgh last night
under a peach of a ride from Harriet Bethell.
This ultra-game gelding has
been struggling in the last two months when faced with
bottomless conditions at Redcar and Ripon, but on
lightening quick ground up in Scotland, he wound up the
length and a half winner of a 1m 5f 0-70 rated handicap.
What's more, it was an easy win - you can watch the race
video from start to finish by clicking on the link
Trainer Philip Kirby was delighted with the win,
commenting "He came out of a short break a bit stuffy in
Throwing Roses - due to run again
spring, but since then has improved
immensely - the real key to this chap on the turf is fast ground -
he's a different horse."
And he certainly was last night - winning the £3500 added race after
hitting the front a full three furlongs out. He will now be
racing again in a similar handicap in the next 2-3 weeks.
There are still a few shares left in this gelding for this summer
season, remember there are still three and a half months left of the
turf season - and he's available at a discounted price as well - but they are
selling very quickly.
