|Amical Risks will be ridden by his work rider Vicky Coates in an Amateur Riders race at Wolverhampton|
|DATE POSTED: 04/05/2011|
Regular readers of our blogs and news
items at Ownaracehorse may remember that last season Amical Risks,
our six-year-old gelding, was ridden into the places three times by
an apprentice lady rider called Eleanor McGowan.
Unfortunately Eleanor is currently on the long-term injured list, however, we have a great substitute in Vicky Coates - Amical Risks' regular work rider. 'Risky' really gets on with his lady riders, and trainer Ollie Pears has managed to find a perfect opening for the horse next week at Wolverhampton.
In a mile and a half handicap at Wolverhampton which is limited to Amateur jockeys, Amical Risks will be ridden by Vicky who takes the gelding up the Malton gallops in most of his work. The gelding recently finished a good seventh in a competitive 21 runner handicap at Doncaster, but he will now be returning to the scene of his last win - on the All-Weather. Risky is renowned for his 'hold-up' style of racing, which sees him come from behind, sometimes last position, to sweep around the field and lay down his challenge.
The race is the last on the Wolverhampton card next Monday, May 9th. Vicky has previously had a number of rides in public, finishing second on Rowan Lodge for her stable last season. She is sure to be cheered on by a bunch of Riskys' Ownaracehorse shareholders next Monday at the track.
We wish Vicky and Risky the best of luck next Monday - hopefully a competitive run and a safe return to the winners enclosure for both of them!
