|George Foster sends Sandwith to Yorkshire to find an opening after missing the cut at Musselburgh|
|DATE POSTED: 04/04/2011|
We were all disappointed when our
Scottish based Sprinter Sandwith missed the cut at Musselburgh's
opening meeting on April 1st - especially as he only missed out by
However, George Foster has switched to plan 'B', and with no opportunities to race in Scotland in the next fortnight due to lack of races, the eight-year-old gelding will now head to either Ripon or Thirsk later this week.
Sandwith won once and was placed in the first four on nine other occasions, including three second placings in 2010.
Sandwith will either go to Ripon on Thursday 7th over five furlongs, or Thirsk on Saturday 9th over six furlongs in order to get his 2011 season started.
George Foster has seen his yard almost double in size since last season, as he now trains Ron Hull's horses, with a satellite yard in Tickhill, North Yorkshire. However, Sandwith is still based in his primary yard in Haddington, Lothianm and the gelding will soon be heading back to Musselburgh and Hamilton, the scenes of his best runs last season.
Shareholders in Sandwith and Bahamian Kid can come to George Foster's opening yard visit of the year, which will be in early May.
