Little Jimmy starts the party early for his shareholders at Uttoxeter on New Year's Eve

Last year we managed to give shareholders in our jumps syndicates a winner in the festive period, when Brunello won in the last few strides at Catterick between Christmas and New Year. This time it was Little Jimmy on New Year's Eve...

Little Jimmy has been a great horse for his shareholders - with two wins last season, and so far this season he has won and been placed.

Little Jimmy was a 7/1 outsider of four on the morning of the race, but eventually went off the 4/1 third favourite.  However, he ran like an odds-on shot, coasting up to the short favourite at the last fence before kicking on into the lead up the short straight at Uttoxeter.

Tommy Gretton, Jimmy's trainer, was delighted with the performance, delighted with the way the gelding ran, and also very quick to congratulate jockey Felix de Giles for a perfect ride on the gelding.  In winning this 2m Chase, the gelding took his wins to seven, and brought home another handsome prize for his shareholders.  The race was a 5,000 added handicap.

Little Jimmy is sold out for his current jumps campaign, and the nine-year-old had plenty of support at the races on New Year's Eve, as over 25 of his 55 shareholders turned out to watch the big, statuesque horse come back into the winners enclosure after the race.

'Jimmy' was enjoying a morning in the paddocks on New Years Day, but Tommy Gretton will have him back cantering later this week, as he aims to race the gelding once again later in January.
