|Doncaster Premier Sales purchase - Clodovil Colt will go to Ollie Pears for 2012|
|DATE POSTED: 01/09/2011|
was busy at the first major UK yearling sale yesterday, and came
away with a striking son of Clodovil...
We are delighted to announce our first purchase for 2012 - a roan Colt who will be placed with Ollie Pears in 2012. Ollie was with us at the sales yesterday, and was struck with the way this colt strode around the pre-sales ring and the attitude he showed.
He is a very well built sort, with very good confirmation and an intelligent head. What's more, he has the scope to grow significantly in the coming months as has plenty of height about his rear, indicating that he will end up being a good 15 hands.
Bidding against a number of interested parties, he was eventually knocked down to Ownaracehorse. We were delighted to get him, and believe that we have a very interesting youngster to go racing with next season.
Out of an un-raced mare who John Gosden paid 200,000 guineas for as a yearling, he has exceptional breeding down his sires family of Clodovil/Danehill, and there is black type also down his mothers side. His Grandmother won in Listed company and the dam's half brother was touched off into second in group company.
And his colour is also striking, as he is a roan colt (a mixture of grey and coloured hairs). In his case, the extra colours are brown, black and bay.
Ollie said yesterday after the sale "I liked him as soon as I set eyes on him. He's a really imposing sort, who 'bossed' his way around the rings and I think everything points to him being an early type. He's really well built, and has a good eye and decent temperament. I was expecting him to go for much more, so I feel like we've got really great value."
Look out for him being added to the Ownaracehorse website in the coming days.
Clodovil - Bonnie Scot yearling held by Ollie Pears at Doncaster on 31st August.
