Racehorse Profile

Nicely Indeed is an impressive sort, and has already stamped his authority on others at the races, having already won twice, been placed at Cheltenham and going close on his last two runs of last season.  He won both of his opening Bumper races (National Hunt Flat races) impressively, and he is now rated 119 after running two very promising races over hurdles in decent handicaps.

His last run at Uttoxeter saw him finish a close third after a scrappy jump at the last fence cost him his race.  that was on firmish ground, and he is a better horse on a softer surface, which is what we will be searching for during the 2017-18 season.  He is still a lightly raced gelding, and there is more to come from this lad.  We were so convinced of this, we went to £32,000 to buy him back at the recent Ascot Sales when he went there to dissolve a partnership with another owner.

This sort of jumper is rarely syndicated to small-percentage shareholders.  He has a high earning potential, and can be expected to race at high profile jumps tracks through the 2017-18 season.  Philip Kirby, based in East Appleton, close to Catterick, trains this exciting National Hunt horse and he has a proven track record with this sort of horse.  He should find some of the Northern tracks to his liking - but we are also expecting to see him contesting some nice races which may take him to the Midlands.  we have little doubt he will make up into a 130+ rated hurdler.

However, it is chasing which should be this lads forte, and later in the season we may see him jump a chase fence.

The is a statuesque gelding, and improved with every run last season. He has a great attitude, and has been straightforward to train. He is a far more mature, experienced individual than he was when we originally bought him two years ago and having had a light campaign last winter, we are expecting he will be raring to go once the season gets going in September/October 2017.  He is an exciting jumping horse, and although we can never provide any guarantees in terms of quality, it is clear that his targets for the next ten months will centre on quality Handicap Hurdle racing and potentially a chance to see him race at the Cheltenham Festival 2018.

With only seven runs, two wins, two places and a very promising performance at Cheltenham (where the form worked out well), Nicely Indeed is an exciting individual who should improve further and be seen at the top jumps racecourses in the North next winter.  At the very least, we believe he will make up into a competitive handicap hurdler in the 120-140 grades.

Please note that there are limited shares available in this gelding. Previous shareholders are given first refusal on shares, and we do expect these publically available shares to sell out very quickly.

  Breeding Information

7-Y-O (2010) - Bay Gelding by Marienbard (IRE) out of Rare Dollar (Bobs Return)

This gelding was bred in Ireland - the source of so many very decent jumping stock.  The mare, Rare Dollar was unraced, but is from the family of Monbeg Dude and Fifty Dollars More and there are a host of winning hurdlers and chasers through the last three mares families.  She has only had one filly to race so far, with her offspring all being bred for National Hunt racing.

Marienbard was a top class middle-distance horse for Godolphin, winning over £1.2m during a three-year career which saw him win a host of top class races, culminating in him winning the L'Arc De Triomphe in 2002 under Frankie Dettori. He started his stud career in Japan, where he achieved many minor winners, but is now in Ireland and becoming better known as a jumps sire.

Race Plans

Nicely Indeed doesn't have many miles on the clock - and we are hoping that this season will see him break into the quality handicap hurdling ranks.

Trainer Philip Kirby is anticipating that the gelding will be ready to race once again in Autumn, and we will be able to get a race or two over hurdles into 'Nicely' before the National Hunt season is really in full swing in December.  The target is to contest one or two handicap races through September to November, and depending on how the gelding has come through those races, he could either head for decent handicaps, or into graded events if his form is strong enough.

The average rating of a hurdler who runs at the Cheltenham Festival is around 135 - and we believe Nicely Indeed is capable of achieving that sort of quality - he has already finishing fifth at Cheltenham 18 months ago.  There will be a lot of racing to get under the 7YO's belt before Cheltenham 2017, but we do realistically have a chance of the gelding being of high enough quality and getting that far.  Obviously this can never be guaranteed, but this is certainly the long term plan and this horse does have the potential to be a contender.

Race Record

This gelding has run three times in the UK, winning his first two National Hunt Flat races, and then running well in a quality Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham.  His flat form showed that he had significant quality, and his hurdles run displayed a good ability when jumping, and plenty of speed up against decent rivals.

His form:

13 Aug 15  Fon 17.5GS C6NHF 1K  1/7 (3L Amirr) 7/1 Mikey Hamill

This is what the Racing Post reported about the gelding's last race:

Nicely Indeed, a dual bumper winner who made a few mistakes last time ahead of this handicap debut, jumped better and came wide to challenge, but just couldn't get past. This was another good effort and he can win a similar race, possibly back in trip.

Value Guarantee

We expect to get 3-6 runs from all our horses per share period, however, you should expect periods of no racing as a result of recuperation from injury or training setbacks.  This share period runs from September 15th 2017 until May 1st 2018. During that time the horse may be rested or have time away from the track to recover and it is quite normal for a flat horse to have periods of 3-6 or more weeks rest between races. Please DO NOT purchase this share if you will be disappointed with only three or four runs during this share period - high class horses are far less likely to run a huge number of times in a season.

We expect demand for Owners Badges on racedays with this horse could be higher than normal. Whilst we have good relations with all the UK tracks, there are always limits to the number of people to whom we can provide badges. Owners Badges are always distributed fairly, but for any major race Nicely Indeed runs in, badges will be allocated on a ballot basis for this horse so that all shareholders have the same chance of receiving a free or discounted badge. You must expect that on some occasions we will be unable to provide free or discounted Owners Badges to every shareholder who wants them. However, we will always attempt to get access to the paddock for every named shareholder at the meeting, even if they have not been allocated an owners badge.

We provide guarantees with all our racehorses. If Nicely Indeed has a season-ending injury and has not already raced twice during the share period, we will replace him with an alternative horse for the remainder of the season
. Replacement horses may not be of the same quality, are provided with no further guarantees and no alternative choice can be provided. Prizemoney cannot be paid on any replacements, but all other benefits such as yard visits and race day badges are available. You agree to all these conditions when purchasing your share.

As a shareholder you must understand that we cannot guarantee your horses performance, a specific volume of runs (beyond our minimum guarantee) or that runs will be evenly spaced throughout the share period.  This is the chance you take when owning any racehorse and participating in this ownership experience.  If you will be disappointed with only 2-3 runs from your racehorse during the season, then please DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS OR ANY OTHER RACEHORSE, as you could be disappointed.  We believe in being crystal clear with our shareholders - any participation in racehorse ownership is a risk, and we are unable to make any refunds because of share periods which finish early due to injury or retirement - as training and livery fees for the horse still remain whether they are racing or not.  This is the chance all shareholders take, as we do ourselves, when participating in the ownership of a racehorse.
